I've had so many questions about how I make my photomanipulations look painted that I thought I might aswell make some sort of a tutorial/walkthrough, to explain what I do. Bear in mind that this is NOT an airbrushing tutorial, -I can't teach you how to airbrush as I am learning myself and has a loooong way to go Besides, there are many good airbrushing tutorials on DA which you can check out. This is only an explanation to how I usually work to get the painted look on my pieces, ok?
I appologize for typos and bad English and explanations =/ I'm afraid I'm not very good at explaining things so I hope it's not too confusing Feel free to ask if something's unclear
The finished pic can be viewed here [link]
**edit: I knew I had forgotten something. In the start I say you should use circular movements when smudging. I meant to say on the face. The hair will probably look lumpy if you don't use strokes It's corrected in the zip now **
NOTE: -For some reason the download link won't work from time to time. If this happens to you, then go here [link] for the tutorial
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
